So I have heard a lot of people say you need to diversify your backlink anchor text. Does that mean you should include things like "click here" and so on? Or does it just mean you need to have your links saying something different like this:

this is my keyword
My keyword is this
I have this as my keyword
#anchor #diversify #text

Both. Use keywords like "click here" as well as keywords such as "my keyword review" and "learn more about my keyword".

That means when you are creating backlink to your pages...Instead of getting all Exact target Keyword Anchor text based backlink...Keep a mix of it.
For example...If your site Target Keyword is Internet marketing and your site name (Brand) is xxxxxx
    Make a combination of :
    Internet marketing
    IM tutorial
    Brand name

And so on for getting link....

Having Click here as AT is not just the way to diversify. You should mix it with branded domains , with www , without www, with http, without http . In short try to mimic what regular users might do when they link back to your page.

Anchor diversity doesn't mean quite much to me. However , you can use LSI keywords for that purpose.
