Hi! This is a very basic question, but I could not find any article explaining and teach us the correct way to it. The question is like this - How do we format the url of a backlink? We could access some website/or Page with few format like below:-

*with 'www' prefix or without 'www' prefix
*with 'http/https' prefix or without 'http/https' prefix
*with '/' at the end or without '/' at the end
*etc

All of them is working and will lead the user to the intend page. But which format should we use for Backlinking? Is it the one shown on the browser address bar when the page is showing or any of the format is ok?

Thank you,

As per my point of view, the SEO friendly Backlink formatting is:

    > With "www" Prefix
    > With "http/https" Prefix
    > With "/" at the end of home page domain
    > Without "/" at the end of sub pages of website

Lets take FB for example. Now it is using hxxps for all its page, but what if I build a backlink without 'hxxps' - only the url(since it will still loads the page)?

And why is different service backlink report different from each other? I trace my backlinks with Ahrefs & Google(link:url) and there is big difference. So which one should I use?

      Thank you,

I'm not sure about it, but I do had a niche site which I sold it on flippa.
The buyer just never listen to what I said, I said change the url to.....
Because most backlinks are pointing to it, and 2 months later.
The site dropped from #1 to #4, and I received a negative feedback because of his mistake, he create the story and I'm victim inside the story.
Thank you for the reply. That is what is on my mind. Use the exact URL that is shown after the page has finish loading. But would like some feedback to confirm or support the idea. Don't want to waste time building something that is not useful.

What about the backlink report? Do you have any input on that part?
