I am discussing & seeing the topic about web directories submission. Experts say web directories are dead in SEO after last penguin update. So what is your opinion?

    You see, penguin update has been taken place to stop spamming. Most of the directories are spammy and that is why experts say that do not use directories. If you get backlinks from directories like dmoz you will get the benefit for sure. But do not do mass directory submission. It will hurt your site very badly.

    Paid directory are way better if you really care about your site you could invest a few hundred in yahoo paid directory and try to get into Dmoz there not as easy to get into but it is worth while in the long run.

      I still use them, but like the others mentioned, use them cautiously and make sure they are reputable and not considered a spam directory. DMOZ is a great one to get on, but it can take a long long time.

    Directories are very important for high ranking,
    but don't use spammy directories, also auto directory submitter etc..
    it's will badly hurt your site ,
