Does Google see my text if I put it in jquery Tabs and Toggles

I'm trying to spruce up my onpage SEO for some websites by putting more text in. However, I don't want it to be seen (offline clients' websites don't normally contain a lot of text on the frontpage - you don't put a long blog post there).

One idea I've been toying with is using Tabs or Toggles. There's this theme I'm considering getting that uses jquery toggle and tabs. I don't really know much about jquery. My question is if I use jquery tabs/toggles on a page and put text in the tabs/toggle, does Google see the text?

I tried going to google to check the Text Cache version and it doesn't show. Although I'm not sure I'm checking it correctly.

Can someone comment on the use of jquery tabs/toggle and whether Google still sees my text if it's in the tabs/toggle. Also, what's the best way to check whether Google sees the text? Thanks.

Very doubtful Google will see the text inside the script. Google can sometimes read very simple javascript code, but usually it's a good idea to avoid scripts for text you want to use for SEO.

CSS is a better option for tabs & letting Google see the tab text/links.

BTW, the Google Cache (text version) never lies, what you see on that Cache page is what Google is looking at.

    Google usually cannot read scripts.

Thanks for your response Yukon and DNA.

I'm no expert in CSS. Can I just include that in any homepage/frontpage? Any Themes you can suggest that allows that or has tabs (done by CSS) on the frontpage?

I did a search and saw stuff related to CSS tabs and jquery - e.g. an article entitled "CSS Tabs with Jquery" Hmm...I'm supposing you're saying that jquery is a script and that I should use CSS tabs. So I thought both are mutually exclusive. But it doesn't seem so?

    Thanks.
