Wordpress Posts Have Only <title> and <h2> tags, no <h1>

I looked at the source code for my Wordpress posts lately, and noticed they only have title and H2 tags, but no H1. I use Yoast as my SEO plug-in. Should I contact the creator of the premium theme and ask for a fix or will there be limited SEO benefit in doing so?

Thank you for any advice you can bestow!

Love you, Mr. Lim! The creator of the theme is very well respected so I figured I'd ask here to see if there was any logical reason on why the posts were structured that way.

Just add an <h1> tag, what's the big deal?

Because today, nobody knows much. They hear h1 somewhere, then
      don't see it, and panic.

If you have no h1, it's no big deal. The h2 does just fine.

If you don't have it, it's not that important.

A little tweaking of the css from h2 to h1 for post title would do...
      I assume...

Not having an h1 is not the end of the world. if you have the post
titled bolded, stronged, or h2, or even something else, and, the
title is at the top of the page, no big deal.

h1 just refers to the largest type size for headings. It can be a signal,
      but it's not required.

A little knowledge can be more dangerous than none. Hence, people
over think things and get themselves deindexed...the average
webmaster who does not know certain stuff, never has to worry...
      about doing anything foolish...

Usually Wordpress sites will take the title of your page/post and make that the h1.

However if you go into your html editor you can manually enter the <h1> tag in your post

If there is only one h2 tag then it would be taken as heading tag and so it would be the main heading tag for search engine spiders.

IprovideSEO is right... your title shows up as the heading1 on the page

So Bretski.. will the Google bots scan my content and realize the <title> tag is 'substituted' for my h1? I plan on building great, interactive content around my brand regardless.. but I figure if properly formatting it will help me achieve my goals even THAT much faster because of a simple source code edit, I'ma do it.

Thank you everyone for your input!

I do a lot of testing of stuff. Honestly, I don't believe most of what people say especially when it comes to SEO these days because the SEO landscape is changing by the month. Stuff that worked six months ago and was considered "good on page SEO" will get your site penalized these days for over-optimization.

With this in mind, I'll tell you that sites that I have where I forced the H1 tag at the beginning of the post were once ranking page 1 for long tail keywords that I was targeting. Now they're nowhere to be found. I'd suggest running Wordpress straight out of the box and not force the H1 tag unless things change in the near future and this comes back into vogue.

Just my two cents but this is what I've found to be true with looking at 30 or more of my own sites.

Good luck, my friend... just try different stuff and don't be afraid. I know you want everything to be perfect but it sounds like you have a lot of passion for what you're trying to do. That will carry you a long way and it will come out in your content. I've had stuff that I've written that I banged out in ten minutes when I had a moment of inspiration that outranks and out-coverts over stuff that I toiled over and wrestled with for hours to make perfect seo-wise.

              Take care

My theme was set this way also. I just added the tags around the <title> and now all seo checkers recognized the <h1>
