Is it really a must to install Google Analytics into your WP Site?

I do have problems doing so as I keep getting error messages. Whether it is because of my browser or WP installation remains a mystery to me for now.

I know Google Analytics is for you to track how many people visit your site but apart from that, what other uses does it have to help your optin and sales conversions?

I use Google Analytics to see how many people visit my site to see which ads work best for me. I collect data for a week on one ad. And if it gets me good leads then I leave it and start a new one. Good luck.

I don't install Google Analytics on any of my sites and a lot of them rank very well. So what do you gain by installing this? There are tons of things that will provide you with the same information.

You don't have to install GA. There's plenty of alternatives like Piwik, Open Web Analytics, GetClicky and many, many more.

Apart from seeing visitor numbers, most web analytics have some type of goal conversion tracking to see how effective your sales process is.

It doesn't have to be Google Analytics, but if you don't choose some analytics package, you're flying blind... you need something that supports goal tracking and can tell you which traffic sources are leading to your conversions. Otherwise how do you know whether someone who just bought your product came from a Google search, or a Google AdWords ad? Or they came from a WSO yesterday, but came back to your site by searching the product name today since they forgot what the thread was called? You can't allocate your marketing time and money effectively unless you can precisely track revenue back to its source.

There are a lot of alternatives to Google Analytics that provides web analytics service.

I use Clicky and it is a better way to monitor and analyze your web traffic in real time.

You don't have to use Google Analytics, if you have Cpanel, you should have the Analytics data already

Cpanel don't give you correct data. In cpanel you see search spider as visitor for sample

I dont install GA in any of my websites..IMHO it is easy for google to track group of sites under a single person/entity, which is not good in SEO point of view when we interlink between our own sites...

Don't think it helps in ranking; but doesn't do any harm either.

I use Google Analytics to find out where my visitors are from so I can use the data as a basis for demographic targeting in my PPC campaigns.

There is no reason that you have to install Google Analytics, as you have read in previous responses there are enough other ways to keep track of your visitors.

Now, if you are set on using google analytics, then you can find a lot of plugins that might be able to help you. The easiest I think is All in one SEO. While it's not it's main use, you can, in the settings for the plugin, add your analytics ID for your site. That way you don't have to mess with the code to add your analytics and you don't have to add an extra plugin.

The interface on my Google Analytics has changed recently. I then tried to "Add A New Profile" as I have a new site and wasn't able to add anything. I looked up in the help centre and read....
"Google Analytics has two levels of access: "User" and "Administrator". You must have Administrator access to edit account settings, add (or remove) profiles, users, filters and goals. If you do not have Administrator access, ask an account administrator to make the changes or ask them to grant you Administrator access"
Does anyone know what this is all about - who do they want me to ask  I just want to be able to add a site and for some reason I can't. Should I just try opening a new account
Thanks if anyone knows what this is all about ...

Whether you use GA or not, you should always use some type of tracking. Otherwise, as someone else pointed out already, you're flying blind.

In addition, if you ever decide to sell your site you'll need to be able to verify your traffic stats for potential buyers. If you don't have a way to prove the amount of traffic your site receives that could have a very negative impact on the value of your blog.
