Blog posts or static page as homepage?

Guys,

From any research, is it better to use blog posts on your homepage or a static page? If the former, the homepage should be refreshed often, but I've seen many sites with just a lengthy static homepage doing well in SERPs...

I think static pages look better and you can control the content. There is a trade off though. Showing post summaries on the home page means that each time you put up a new post, your home page has some new content showing. The more Google finds new content on a page, the more likely it is to come back and crawl it more often.

At the start, I think it’s good to use that to your advantage and show a regular home page. You could switch and try a static home page but stay on top of how long it takes new content to get indexed by Google. If you see it slow down, you might revert back to using a non-static home page.

    Sincerely,

    Ryan

I love static page for one reason only; Simply because my websites seems to rank a lot better and fast.

Personally, I've found that static pages rank better.

However, it's still very possible to rank well by putting blog posts on the homepage.

I´d go for static page with an area to be updated with blog posts - you get the best of both worlds.
