New posts don't rank at all, very weird.

Sup Warriors,

So I've created a celebrity related authority site recently, but none of my posts seem to rank in Google... EVER.

Here's an example.

Search Google for "Rihanna Dead August 2012 Heart Attack - Death Hoax"

As you can see, it's indexed. Make sure to include the ".

Now, search without the " and you'll see that it's nowhere to be seen at all.

Very unusual. Possibly a slap by Google already? Hmm

Hmmm, that is strange. I've noticed this phenomenom for years and its baffled me. People create a new site and for some reason their post don't immediately rank in Google. Its very odd

I understand the sarcasm intended, BUT. Look at the results from Page 1 - 10 for the search term, they are completely UNRELATED. Surely, my new post would be ranking for that search at least somewhere, considering it's an EXACT MATCH of the title?

      ROTFLMAO!

Man is this guy just the epitome of what IM/website promotion has
become. Just toss something up, and think it's going to rank.

Has nothing to do with a google slap. That would be a deindex.
Has nothing to do with dupe content. That is just old laundry
hanging on a line that people can't get rid of.

Nothing you have done has made google warrant your pages
ranking. Give them a reason. But then, even with a reason, your
      competition may never go down.

Nobody can guarantee you a ranking, and nobody really should
be asking why they don't rank. Unless you are wikipedia.
Then you can ask yourself, why don't I rank for, oh say
      "Rihanna."

Anyone else who asks is not living in reality, and thinks that
their site is just soooooooooooooooooo great that
google MUST love it! They MUST! And if not, geeeee. I
must be penalized for some reason.

Now ask yourself this. If you ever get top ranking, why can't
the sites that then don't rank have the same question as you?
      Think they got penalized?!?!?!?

These penalty myths, google slaps, why I don't rank whines,
      are just getting worn out.

Everybody and their brother can now get an EMD, wordpress,
toss some junk up, (oh yeah, it's unique and great!) and
      think that they can rank.

Hard work and patience never seems to be in the mix.

I should also point out that you are using copyrighted images.
One even has a friggin' watermark!!!!!!!!!! And you
are using adsense! Not to mention all the rest of the
      violations...

The question should be, why am I not deindexed? Why
has not google banned me from adsense?

      Before looking outside, look within!

You should also be careful as to who you open your
adsense sites to. Little pitchers have big ears.

I've got over 50 domains, and had a huge authority site for over two years with 20+ posts daily. None of my sites have EVER experienced this issue. It's a duplicate content issue definitely. I'm going with the HTTPS dup content issue now.

You ask why? Because /page/2 content is ranking HIGHER than the actual post.

How many back links do they have? What is their domain age? What is their index count? How much traffic do they receive already?

Now ask these questions for your site.

I've put it down to duplicate content after scouring Google for more info.

My rifthunter.com/page2 is ranking higher than 2000+ word posts.

I need to introduce canonical, but I've never done it. I just enabled it on Ultimate SEO for Wordpress, will that be enough?

Canonical just creates a primary authority of a page url's that are duplicate of other pages on your sites that have a different url but are the same page. They lead to the same page but by different routes. Canonical gives one the primary authority for SEO juice instead of dividing the juice between them.

Do you have this problem on your new site already? This is something usually experienced in sites with a huge amount of indexed pages.

Yes, I have this problem. I searched for a big 2,000 word post I did and it didn't appear even in " ". I turned on omitted results and other pages such as /page/2 are ranking higher than the post. I need a fix asap! Dayum

Also, I am creating 10-12 posts daily, so alot of indexed posts per day

I never had this problem with Yoast SEO, so I'm going to switch over to it and check improvements

Why do you have SEO and Tech categories on a celeb news blog ? Even this thread now outranks your page.

Something is wrong with the domain ...probably Panda -- which isn't surprising as almost all of the content is thin. Most posts have about 100 words ?

I'm really hoping it's down to the duplicate content issue. It's really bothering me though that this thread ranks higher...

Found the problem... You are not an authority.

    Situation solved.

Also, why do you have a https and http version of your site?

This thread should rank higher. It has far more authority than your page does.

If you type just RiftHunter into Google, I'm currently 5th or so, so I presume Google hasn't slapped me yet?

As for the https issue, I got a free SSL with the hosting. Should I take it off?

Why would Google slap you? They barely know you exist at this point. It looks like you have done about zero offpage SEO.

As for the https thing... I really do not deal with https often, but your pages are indexed under both the http and https versions. I would imagine that is kind of like when a site does not redirect the non-WWW version of a site to the WWW version or vice versa.

I've just noticed that Google is indexing the https:// too. Going to ask Hostgator to remove the SSL cert, maybe that's why since this is the first time I've ever experienced this issue with Google, and funnily enough, the first time I've had an SSL cert.

    Check this:
    https://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&safe...w=1600&bih=775

700 posts and pages indexed with "https://". Just installed a wordpress plugin to redirect https to http.

Nope, but I think it's down to /page/2 and https:// (SSL) generating tons of duplicate content. After searching google, Google has indexed both the https: and http: version of each post, which will cause dup content issues.

Working on fix them all. Noindex/nofollow'd archive pages and redirected ssl to non-ssl. We'll see in the coming days!

I've put it down to the actual SSL cert and addon domains, check this:

My addon domains are showing my celeb site, WTF?
