Social bookmarking automation?

Hi all,

I've been looking into social bookmarking automation and I know there have been threads about this in the past. Is it a good idea to submit to hundreds of bookmarking sites? One of my competitors has suddenly amassed hundreds of backlinks from various social bookmarking sites, but none that I've heard of. They've clearly not manually submitted them.

I've used SEO SpyGlass to check the 'link value' and 99% of them are of zero value. Having said that, they have climbed the ranks in Google and most of their pages are sitting on the first and second pages for keywords.

I've just been using the big names - Digg, Delicious, Reddit etc, but none of them are appearing as backlinks when I check with SpyGlass...

    Several points here...
Only software I know off hand is bookmark deamon, there are probably a few others but since I don't use any of them can't speak for their value. Of course he could just be using fiverr, there are a number of gigs for this kind of thing.

Is this good or bad, that depends upon who you listen too or who is speaking. I believe in having nofollow and worthless links is just as important as having high value links.

I don't use Spyglass but links show up very slow in GWT so I don't worry about it to much. I have a strategy in mind and I focus more on keeping to that plan and measuring the results then getting bogged down in the details. I do keep notes though on when I do things, I tend to see about a 2-3 week lag between building a link and it effecting the ranking.

Might want to ping or rss feed your links if you feel they are not getting found.

Mass bookmarking your money pages is not a very good idea these days, but you can use them for your tier 1 links, etc.. There are services like Neobookmark that offer around 5,000 bookmarks for $10. I normally use them to help my Tier 1 links get indexed and have some link juice.

    Hi Jodie

There can possibility that the 'the keywords' they are targeting and ranking good may have low competition in niche.
There is no point of getting links with domain authority zero may be because of the low competitiveness they are ranking good.

Why? Because you can fill out the same form over and over again better than a program?

Manually submission are always hit because In a programs, there are mostly sites have zero value and also not from the high authorize & genuine site. If we will do it manually then we only do quality submission on high authorize, reputed & high pr websites that brings effective and better results than program submission. So, I always prefer manual submission.

Thats false. I can automate digg, reddit, technorati, stumbleupon and so forth. On top of that I have my own scraped list of ~5,000 bookmarking sites. Granted most of them are PR0 but I have a lot of them that are PR4 and above as well.

While I wouldn't use the PR0 bookmark sites on my money site your comment suggests they have no value at all which again, is false.

            Back to my original statement.

What is the difference between you filling out a form and pressing submit and a computer filling out the same form with the same data and pressing submit?

            The answer-

            None.

Also worth noting that if you use a program you've set up yourself, you can choose the sites that are included (and you can do that for many other auto-submitters as well). So assuming that the sites are "low-value" because the submission is automated is like assuming a car with automatic transmission is slower than one with manual. It depends entirely on how you drive

I just posted this on another thread, but IM Automater works well too. Only $2.99 month to drip feed social bookmarking links every day to all the major social platforms.

@Wade32 do you know what sites exactly does IM Automater bookmarks your articles to ?

When I press the link to see them, it takes me directly to the sign up page without giving me the info and that seems too strange for me.

They post to all of the major ones. Reddit digg stumblupon delicious etc and a few more I can't think of. If you want to post to more you have to pay more, but the $2.99 works for me.

From what I've experienced, blasting my site with 100's of social bookmarks has not helped at all. In fact, it hurt most of my sites.

    That's just my experience though.

There is no point in bookmarking each post to 100's of social bookmarking sites. It will definitely look like spam to Google. Select some top notch sites like stumbleupon, digg, reddit, technorati, delicious, facebook, twitter, pinterest, google plus, slashdot and tumblr.

I normally publish my every new post to these sites only and get most of the traffic from stumbleupn and technorati.

Doing bookmarking manually only will provide some worth and one can get backlinks. As you have used SpyGlass and found out no backlinks there,so i guess here is your answer.Don't use automated bookmarking.Do it manually and see the results.
