Likes are more effective than views but you should buy a little of both along with followers for the channel. Not sure what it means by channel views.

And yes, you can and should build links to your videos and the channel itself. Easy to embed the videos in hub/squidoo or other 2.0s

Yes channel views are no longer shown on the channel page. Can it still help your channel page to get views and subscribers? Sure. I recently did this and my channel (not just my videos) started to show up in search.

It all depends on what your ultimate goal is whether you drive them to your channel or drive them to individual videos (or both - I always like both - either/or seems so boring).

Subscribing to other channels related to your niche and commenting on them should help a bit.
