What do you mean success? "Being allowed to" or "earning a profit by?"

      Correct.

I plan on bidding on a trademarked keyword but I was wondering if I'm allowed to do this and profit from it.

      Thanks!

        • If the word is not trademarked, you can bid on it.
        • If the word is trademarked, but the owner has not filed an exception request with Google, You can bid on a competitor's trademark - you can bid on it in most countries (US, UK, and Canada included) and in addition use it in AD copy.
        • If the word is trademarked, and the owner has filed an exception request then you can STILL bid on it in most countries; however, you cannot use it in ad copy.
The above was from a couple of years ago - its gets very confusing...

I've had a lot of success with bidding on competitor's names and companies.

But remember just because there is a "Google" rule regarding something it doesn't reflect the law. So stay away from bad mouthing anyone.
