Content is the king now. I worked for a keyword recently. Just update the unique content regular base on my site, Share each site post on each social media like Facebook, Myspace, Twitter etc, Create web 2.0 properties, Some guest post and Social bookmarking. I got the result.

Write epic content and don't use exact match Titles but use a mix of related keywords and produce an enticing title for the user.

People tend to get locked up with the idea of SEO, forgetting that Google is attempting to rank content that is not only most relvevant but provides the visitor the a quality experience.

The days of gaming SEO are over, and if you find a loop hole, it will be shut down.

Focus on building out a site that makes fans, and don't put all your eggs in one basket. Promote in different ways that can benefit SEO, such as networking with authority blogs, niche social networks, and the focus on the bigger social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.

There are people that write passionately about certain topics are getting ranked better now, and this is the type of content that Google wants to rank -- not just "good content" that attempts to game SEO with Exact match titles, phrasing, anchor links, and unatural inbound and inter linking.

You need more frequent updates and more variety now. Just having a ton of links doesn't matter anymore. Aim for GOOD targeted links that are RELEVANT. Having 50,000 useless random links just looks bad and will pull your site down. It's better go have one PR6 decent link than 100s of trash ones that dont have anything to do with your topic.

No it is not, You can still use those methods (Do NOT over do it like people were doing sometimes back and enjoy being on top, over-doing may put you in trouble) but you have to go for other link building methods to get links as well to make your link building process more natural. Go for combination of contextual links (Blogging+Press releases+Article Submissions), Social bookmarks & Angela/Paul. I am sure you can get success... Make the percentage of contextual links in over all backlinks to your site.

            Great post penguin/panda info.

I've noticed that many of you said that you use social bookmarking. Has any of you used WL Marketing for social bookmarking? I used to use them a lot and it used to work like a charm. I would go and just order 150 unique social bookmarks and it used to rank for those keywords. But lately I've noticed that it isn't working. In fact I noticed rankings drop after using it (post panda/penguin). Anyone has had similar experience?

Or please recommend some social bookmarking service you use that you have gotten results from. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Yes ! now a days its hard to rank certain website but still , and it takes more time but now you should focus on quality back links rather than just spamming same content everywhere and posting your links on sites which don't give quality back links . To improve ranking you should use fresh content , as content matters most .Do social bookmarking ,Press release , article, directory , forum posting , Blog commenting and blog creation , this would improve ranking .

Keyword selection plays a very important role. Well before selecting a keyword we need to analyze the competition and saturation level. This can be achieve by Google analytics tool. When we chooses appropriate keyword, We must work on it and keep to concentrate on Off-Page optimization for that keyword.

The problem with A&P backlinks is they are overused by too many people. Same basis principles apply that always have...good content, good on-page seo and quality backlinks.

Yes you`re right after these updates it`s became very tough to rank. But these things helped me get through these updates and rank higher.

    1. Content need to be unique
    2. Build quality backlinks for that keyword (Tru to use different forms of keyword)
    3. Get links from your niche related sites or blogs
    4. Go for social bookmarking

This worked for me. Hope it will work for you too!:
