Hi, there is not a great deal that that you can do with the website provided but I would suggest buying a domain name something along the lines of mobileavon and either create a few pages for the site and point your visitors towards your avon site or perhaps preferable to you simply use a frame redirection to point the domain to your avon site. Due to using a brand name to sure to contact Avon in either event to gain permission to use the Avon name within your chosen url. Jim

Hi Elle Holder, please do me the courtesy of quoting me fully and not taking it out of context. I am aware of what a brand name is but I am sure if you contact the company involved they would look at the suggestion.

Avon is BIG money, not sure about commission percentages, but the business is big.

It's basically like email list building, before email list were ever thought of.

Like Elle Holder said (above), it reminds me of the Apple followers (got to have that next best thing).

You are right! I stopped reading after I read the first suggestion of mobileavon and should have kept reading.

LOL. Avon is a favourite of "women of a certain age" and they just love the stuff. They have their skin care regimen and buy the same things over and over again so Avon's repeat business is just crazy. And they do have a younger following, I'm guessing those influenced by their mothers, although they do sell inexpensive jewelry and fragrances as well.

Where ever I've lived in my life there has always been an "avon lady" in the area, knocking on the door and/or dropping off catalogues. I don't know if their presence extends beyond North America though.

Their top earners used to get pink Cadillacs. Not sure if they still do.

Probably more than you ever wanted to know about Avon!

No offense but personally I think that's a big waste of time. You should put your efforts in something like amazon etc.

About on site SEO almost everything is poorly/amateurish done , we're in 2012.

No offense but how big is Avon in Italy? And what kind of research have you done before you throw out statements like that? Do you have a clue about the potential earnings an Avon rep can make?

I have a friend that sells it and the commission structure is out of this world. If you're good and you build up a healthy client base, you can make bank. People that like Avon are like people that like Apple. Think zealots. I personally hate the stuff, but that's just me.

This is great advice - if you want to take the chance of getting an email from Avon's legal department telling you to take down your site. "avon" is a trademark, meaning you cannot use it in a domain name unless you have the rights to it. I'm guessing you've done exactly what Avon expects of you and used the subdomain setup.

How much freedom do you have with site structure? Or do you have a boiler plate theme that Avon expects you to use?

Have you used the Google Keyword Tool? Have you done any research as to how many potential searches you could get with avon + your city + any other keywords?

How good is the SEO for any other local Avon reps? Are there sites for any other local Avon reps? If not, your competition is low, and you have a better chance of ranking. If you are thinking bigger than local, change your keywords accordingly.

Use your keyword phrase in URL, page title, H1 and H2 tags, content, sidebar headings, ALT tags an so forth. Just don't stuff keywords and make things look as natural as possible.

Disclaimer - I am NOT a self proclaimed SEO expert at all! (there are lots of them here!) :rolleyes: This is just stuff I've picked up in the last 6 years of IMing. There actually are some experts here and maybe one of them will be able to give you some better insights then I can, but hopefully that's a start.

It's going to be tough buying a domain. You got to read the policies. I was in Usana (similar), and I was limited in so many ways. I had to be a 'specific' rank in order to make a website.

Here in Italy this kind of stuff is heavy saturated , the only way to make money with it is going around and selling stuff to people which don't have access to internet and still live in 90's, or your close family. Homever it was just a friendly suggestion watching his site, he would probably make few bucks faster going with some easy comp on amazon as I doubt a site like this will sell in the near future.

I agree with not bothering with a website or SEO.

In my opinion and experience from friends and family members, most network marketing or direct sales companies such as Avon or Amway work best one on one in person and even better with having "parties" to demo products and give gifts to make small sales, then you build your client list and upsale new stuff.

As with any business, it is all about a plan. Get some family and friends to have some parties for you and invite their family and friends whom you do not already know, then remember as in all sales, it is all in the relationship, service and the followup.

People can get Avon online and from a ton of others, why would they want to buy from you.

Be unique, make them special..... Good luck.

Edit: As I thought a bit more about this, I might suggest you use a free blog and talk about your favorite stuff and put pictures linking to your free Avon site they gave you and post in on a facebook fan page and on pinterest and twitter.

But you really have to do this for the fun of it and not seem salesy.

I added this because I remembered a friend of mine and a niece who both just blogged and pinterest posted for fun and got such a following I suggested just a few posts to sell something and they did real well. One was posting all about recipes and the other posted all about crafty projects.

My point is that once you get a big following on anything, you can probably sell something related to them if you don't over do it.

However, to deliberately sell stuff, I still think the first thing I posted would be the more direct route for Avon than online.

I would forget about SEO on their cookie-cutter website. There are thousands of the exact same site out there. It is not going to rank.

You could build your own site that links to it. I would even consider using your home address as your business address and doing some local SEO on it. Depending on your area, you could probably get some halfway decent search volume just locally for Avon. Reps go in and out of the business all the time, and people are constantly looking for a new rep.

You can actually make some money with this. I have a good friend who paid her way through grad school selling this. I think they offer sales training to their associates too. Take advantage of all of the sales training you can.

The main reason no one here is making money is they never learned how to sell. These folks will teach you if you want to learn. I'd do that before anything else.

The big money with Avon is when you recruit other sales people to join your team as you get a percentage of each sale. Put adverts online ( craigslist,gumtree etc.. ) looking for home workers near your area.

There are a few millionaires in the UK using this method but it's hard to make money just going door to door.
