Sup Warriors,

So I'm targeting a MASSIVELY competitive niche, it's huge. Tons of competition so I want to do it right. So far, I've done no link building because I want to create tons of high quality unique content.

My articles are usually between 500 and 2,000 words and target specific keywords.

Here's the site: YouTube SEO
Here's my most recent post (1.5k+ words): Youtube SEO Optimization - Video SEO To Boost Your Google Rankings

How would you rate the SEO of the site as a whole? Any improvements I can make? Cheers.

First thing is, you picked a domain with Youtube in the domain name, bad start IMO.

2nd, your running Adsense on a site with Youtube in the domain name.

I'm not worried about that just yet. I expect it to take months for them to file a domain transfer request (if ever). They usually don't target sites which are highly beneficial and promotional of their services, so we'll see.

If I can rank it for a few months, it'll be a huge $$ maker.

I don't see how you think it will take them months to come after it. It could take days. That is highly unpredictable.

I also do not see how you think it will be a huge moneymaker. The search volume is pretty low.

Your page also does not meet AdSense TOS. I would remove the ads until you fix that.

SEO-wise, it's a pretty simple site. Not much you can really screw up.

        No offense but your dreaming.

You running a fake Youtube related domain offers nothing for Google, you can call it anything you want but when you piggyback off big business with their own name (domain name) your just waiting to fail.

Piss Google off enough & they'll pull the plug on that Adsense account.

        Good luck.

^ What he said. You're setting yourself up for short term failure by choosing a domain that includes youtube, when the benefits of doing so are negligible at best.

You'd even be better off choosing something like ytubeseo.com. It's shorter, and the results from whatever efforts you put forth will have a much longer shelf life.

Your section headers in the sidebar are all H2 which can take away from the real H2s on the page.

Your homepage, your category page, and your author page are the exact same content ... duplicate content is bad.

As long as the canonical tags are there, that is not an issue.

So maybe I missing something with the canonical tag:

He has a canonical tag on those 3 pages, but they point to the current page:
Home page canonical is home page
Category page canonical is category page
Author page canonical is author page

But what you are saying is that all the canonical links should point to the homepage, correct?

That's not duplicate content. Laziness, but not duplicate content.
Is that bad? You have to define bad. Google could care less.

Duplicate content is not bad just because it's duplicate. If it was,
amazon would be taking massive hits.

And just because there are different urls for getting to the same thing,
that's not duplicate content. If it was, youtube, twitter, etc. would
      be taking massive hits.

I had a category page on Wordpress that had unique content on the page, and then links to all my posts in that category. I wanted to limit the amount of posts on the page, so I made it only show 5 at a time. When I did this, it added a page 2 (I had about 8 links at the time), but all the unique content was duplicated on the page.

My site went from #1 to Page 5. After I removed the duplicate content on page 2, I went back to #1. Just saying from experience, I try to limit the amount of duplicate content on my site.
