Hello,

I wonder if backlink age (i.e. how long the backlink exist on a specific URL) matters ? does it makes the PR of the domain stronger ?

Won't make the PR of the domain stronger and to be honest wont really make your domain that much stronger the longer it stays online however its obviously a positive thing to hold onto as many decent backlinks as possible.

The age on the backlinks doesn't matter but the total number of backlinks at a time does.

      Hi Tom,

Yes, backlink age does matter in 2 very important ways.

      1. Aged backlinks pass more link juice in the form of earned trust. Link juice is comprised of 3 values: Relevancy, PageRank, and Trust. Trust is earned over time, so aged backlinks have earned more Trust by having stood the test of time.

      2. Since it takes time to earn truly natural organic backlinks, link juice from pages that have been online longer tend to have more PageRank because they have existed longer and had more time to earn PageRank.

Let me point out that technically the "age" of the backlink is not what drives the value of the backlink, but "age" is a prerequisite to those factors, particularly to the Trust factor.

Definitely, the age of backlinks matters a lot. It is considered as the sign of trust for the search engines. Google used to consider the age of backlinks to boost the ranking of the website even in the atmosphere of high competition.

The pr of the domain is stronger not because of the age, mostly on the number o backinks and quality of them.

More so than backlink age its about your site not constantly losing backlinks. If you have strong backlinks that last awhile it can only be good. A site that is constantly loosing and gaining backlinks does not look very natural.

Backlink age doesn't matter as far as boosting you up in the serps, but I'm sure over time that backlink will grow stronger. So in the long run it matters that the backlink is still there. But it's not the biggest factor you should worry about when getting backlinks.
