Hey Warriors,

A friend of mine currently runs a PR5 site and has said that I can place a sitewide link to my sites on his site.

Now, I'm undecided as to which will be the best in order to pass on PR. Should I go with the footer or sidebar?

Lemme know, couldn't find anything on Google!

Footer and Sidebar, both links are very best to boost the value of site pages. So, put your links on Footer or Sidebar where you wants because you will get effective results on your sites.

    The correct answer is neither.

For maximum benefit, you need a contextual backlink from the actual page that has the PR5.

Agreed. Better one link like that from one page than a footer or sidebar link from every page on the site.

Install SEO quake on your browser and query the pages of your friend's website using the site: operator. For example, site:yourfriendsite.com. SEO quake displays statistics on each result in SERP, including the PageRank. As with benefiting from a PR5 link, make use of an anchored link targeting your best keyword, and it should be dofollow. I would also prefer to just acquire a link from the homepage, not site-wide.

probably the home page... no such thing as a pr5 site, you'll want to get a link from the pr5 PAGE

Agreed. Go in one link only from the home page and forget the sitewides. They've been out of style for quite some time.

I've gone into the theme edit and edited two of my links into ALL of the tag archives. Some of his tag archives are ranking PR3 and PR2 etc, so will this be sufficient?

    So it now says:

    Tag Archives: Keyword

Powered by XXX and supported by XXX

    XXX = my sites

Google only counts one link per domain.

So how would I go about adding my domains to the homepage, when it's a typical wordpress blog with latest posts first. Since the header menu/sidebar/footer are sidewide?

Are you familiar with PHP? If so, you use the is_home() conditional and display it in a widget.

Some of the answers here are not what I expected. Mainly that a contextual page link is better than a site wide sidebar link. I have a site wide sidebar link from a site that has a PR of 8. I was freaking stoked! Now I'm thinking it might not be doing that much for me. Does it still have value? What if I can get both?

So how does this look now?

Braindeadly - YouTube, Blogs, World of Warcraft PVP and Gaming

I've placed my two links on the index, below the header menu and ONLY on the index. Apart from pages/posts too. Or, should I remove it from pages/posts?
