Why would you delete the WP install If you was moving up the SERPs?

  Although i am not Matt Cutts but I can tell you one thing for sure, if you build quality links with anchor variations, you'll be up in SERPS in no time...

  The main problem I can think of is, you deleted all the ranked WP page URLs.
  
  Did you 301 any old/ranked page URLs?

I can give you my personal experience, I had a test site that I used while learning and when the updates came about.. it was slaughtered. Thankfully it was a test site though so I walked away for a bit to put some theories to work for me, a few months later it came back by itself. Let me tell you this site had some trash thrown at it too.. if it can come back anything can.

If it was moving up, not sure why it wouldnt do the same thing again. It might take a bit more time and work to make it happen.

Recovery is always possible as long your domain has not been sandboxed. If you can find what page urls were getting "good" links coming in, it might help to rebuild those pages with the same urls (if they were "good" backlinks). I've had to do rebuilds and although they recovered some, I lost a lot of momentum and they never got to the same points of before, even when I did all the right redirects. I am not sure if it was because title tags and header tags were a little different, something was definitely missing.

Is it worth taking notes on the subdomain urls that where indexed on google and use the exact same ones when I rebuild it?

Either get all the old URLs (site:domain.com), or do a site-wide 301 to a new page/URL.

It will be deleted when the G bot finds a 404.

Any cache pages you still have, will fade away over time, as Google finds the pages don't exist anymore.

I did the same thing just like you, delete the entire contents because I'm too tired to fixed all non relevant contents for my fashion site. It probably hurt ranking but as long as you keep updating the site on daily basis, the traffic will be normal within 2-3 months.

No, the problem is you'll have to start over for each keyword/page. If you can recreate the [exact] URLs/pages that the Wordpress install created, then you should be fine. Or at least know the [exact] URLs & do a 301 redirect to the new page.

Assumes you have backlinks pointing at the old pages, otherwise no point in doing a 301 redirect.

You should have waited a while longer before you deleted it, but since it already was climbing I can't see why you did... but it's done. If you wait one week or a month won't make any difference. Just start over.

Also, if you need to find a lot of the old URLs so you can do page redirects, you can also use Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free Books, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine to see snapshots of what it looked like and the page names of the old site.

  Make things look as natural as possible. If what you're working with would only get 10-20 backlinks per day, dont blast the site with 1000 backlinks.
  
  Almost anyone can rank a site on the first page quickly, but keeping it there is a whole different story.

I think you should build again. There are many SEO companies offer that they can recovery website from Google penalty. You should try, I also tried with a company call "linkbuildingservices" (not sure it's correct name or not) here and they realy worked well.
