There has been many posts on this topic, just do search.

I will say paid gets you traffic faster, that is hard to debate.

But both work in the big picture of things.

With all the latest "crackdowns" and changes by Google do you still feel that it is possible to use SEO to drive traffic to CPA and affiliate squeeze/landing pages?

I ask this because most landing pages only have 1-3 pages and have very little content on them; so I've always wondered how it was possible to get them ranked in the search engines using SEO.

This is why I'm looking into paid traffic for the sites that are made strictly to be monetized.

Do not rely 100% on Google rankings to earn income. Google changes their algorithms frequently and you can have a #1 ranking site vanish.

I prefer to target methods other than Google. You will find that often you end up getting good Google rankings then anyway, since you are focusing on PEOPLE which is what Google really wants.

The best long term strategy for earning money online is to diversify. I recommend that you split your focus so that only a maximum of 25% of your income is through one method. That way if things change, you still have your other 75% income coming in while you adjust.

It really depends on what you are marketing. If you can find a niche with very little competition and hungry customers, you can SEO your way to the top pretty quick. But good luck finding that niche. For the most part SEO takes time. paid traffic will almost alway be the quicker route, if you can afford it.

Could you possibly elaborate on your video marketing methods?

        Sure

#1 - most important factor = keyword research to find popular terms

#2 - choose a CPA offer that is suitable for your keyword

#3 - focus on optimizing the video for the YouTube search engine first, worry about Google after

#4 - target future keywords (eg. Free Gift Card November 2012) aim for 1-3 months in the future

#5 - create a basic video (max 30 seconds) and have the final screen display a call to action (eg. Click the link below...)

#6 - bookmark the video on major bookmarking sites (quality sites, not quantity is best)

Then sit back and wait. You will get a pleasant surprise when you start getting email updates from your CPA

While you have limited period offer than PPC would be the best option. While for continuous service, SEO is the best. If you have some festival offer than you can run PPC campaign for time period. Even you can approach with landing page design and conversion rate optimization for converting maximum traffic.
