Silos and duplicate content, how can I avoid it ?!?

So let's say I have a site tennisshoes.com

What is the best way to avoid duplicate content with products that fit into multiple categories?

I make a page with the keyword that has the most searches in that particular category, in this case it would be

Black Tennis shoes

on that page there are all the posts that fall under that category, but some of the shoes (posts) in that category also fall under another major category

Tennis Shoes with white stripes

so the same pair of tennis shoes will be listed on the category page for that keyword also.

I'm figuring to tell google not to index categories and tags but I still have the same posts sitting on different category pages. When i say category pages i don't mean wordpress' built in category function, I mean Pages that I build that hold all related posts for that category, aka a silo

One product fits into multiple categories
Tennis Shoes
Black Tennis Shoes
Tennis shoes with white stripes

how'na hell am I supposed to take care of this guys?

thanks

Is there a reason you want 100% of the Post content on the category page?

Why not have either anchor-text links and/or an image on the category page pointing at the Post page? Basically use the category page to pimp out Post page links.

actually Yukon that's what I was gonna do anyway but I figured that was still a duplicate content issue because the post link and title would be on multiple pages.

honestly even tho that was my plan it still didnt register to me the way you just said it

but now that makes perfect sense, they are just links and pics with (maybe) a short description on several pages

thanks a lot broham, my mind was looking at it from the wrong angle

I've spent the last 59 months building 412 MFA sites. Each site averages 8 cents per day...I said average, some make up to 17 cents per day, PASSIVE INCOME! This income allows me to live comfortably and buy ANY flavor Jolly Rancher or Skittles I desire. Don't give in to fear, it CAN be done!
