There's thousands upon thousands of SEOs out there.. but watch out a lot of them will make promises they can't keep, over charge you (under charging is a sign of a cowboy too), and watch out for anyone who gives you a quote before knowing your desired keywords.

Always ask to see a portfolio and ask them to give you full details on what they are charging you for. If you don't understand something (a lot will use jargon on you) demand they explain in detail what they are providing you for your money.

    Good luck.

Newbie here (just look at the post count). I have been looking to do 500 book marks and one company says $60 and the other will say $200. As far as I can tell they both do the same thing. Manual submissions etc. I mean really how do you know. This is just two example but there are like thousands of them.

Hehehe. when you say the words "need SEO", it's like dipping your own hand into the Amazon waiting for piranhas to eat the flesh off of it.

Proceed with caution, everyone likes to think they know SEO hehehe.

I'd say stay away from freelancer sites, instead check out the warriors services here and check out providers who have good reviews or can demonstrate or provide you with verifiable SEO results in their portfolio.

I actually have to disagree with you there, but I do agree with your suggestion to check the Warrior services.

I'm a freelance SEO, I quit working with firms due to the amount of lies they tell customers.. they just tell 'em what they wanna hear and as long as next months balance is paid it don't matter how long they string customers along. To me that's highly unethical, there's quiet a few in the industry who have a real passion for web tech and won't make promised they can't keep.

One thing about freelance SEOs, ask how many customers they take on per month. An SEO that has 100s of clients isn't really going to have the time to properly engineer any site but his own. Most decent freelancers set themselves a client limit, mine is 15 per month. That gives me plenty of time to work on each clients site over the course of 30 days, depending on the level of engineering work needed. You'll notice that good SEO's are discovered through word of mouth.

This is probably the best thing I can say to anyone looking for an SEO - ask people you know who have used one and got the results & treatment they paid for. If I need a plumber I ask my friends and family who they have used. Treat SEO just the same as you would any industry.

As a result of my passion all my advice is given away for free (since I don't have to DO the work) and I get the impression that a lot of folks on forums simply can't afford a dedicated SEO.

So yes you're right, some freelance SEOs are total sharks and should not be trusted, but please don't tar us all with the same brush, it's just like any other industry.

Do not buy seo package but rather but specific services... for example..

100 article submissions, 100 link submissions, 100 social bookmarking, etc... and have the report..

SEO packages always "promises are made to be broken"

  • Learn how to perform seo services youself - So you can implement it yourself...And if you don't have time to implement it, you will still understand it, so you don't get plaid by people who provide seo services :p

if you go through freelance sites, go to guru.com and elance.com and search for people who offer seo services and have a high feedback score (positive scroe, of course), and checkout what they have to offer.
