Okay, so I believe I have found a few profitable domains and keywords..

My question is, when I type them into Google, the pages that come up are Amazon/Ebay/Target/Walmart etc. pages

Are these nonauthority pages easy to outrank?

or does it lessen the chance to beat because the competition is high?

  • Outranking those pages won't be easy, but you can do it if you provide quality content and choose less competitive keywords. In addition, many customers are searching for information before buying a specific product or service. If you write compelling content on your website, they will first read your posts to find out more about the products they are interested in even if your site doesn't rank #1 for your targeted keywords.

For solid kw research it's essential to know the Page Authoriy of the sites at the top 10. This will show the internal link structure, often those Amazon/Nextag pages have 0 external backlinks which makes it look like it's a piece of cake but then when you run it through a tool like SEOMoz you'll see that all the pages are PA40-50+, which is just nasty if you want to rank quick with some micro niche site.

So if you can miss the money I would sign up for SEOmoz and analyse the PA of all the sites.

You may need to find another keyword that goes well with them.
Type your keywords in google insights tool and see at the bottom of the page what is often search for with them..
As suggested, it could be something like review, information, or simply "where to buy" added in front of your keywords when you write content for them.

I agree with JamesColin. You may need to find another key word to go with them.
