Well, I direct link for testing purposes even on google. You won't get as much traffic, but enough to test. Yahoo and MSN are better for direct linking, but for testing google is the best

That's not true, what ppl don't understand is, two of the same urls / destination pages will not show up on the same page

ok that clears some confusion, and also how do we do direct linking the redirect way?

Direct linking can be expensive as google allows only one merchant url display on 1 page so i will have to bid high to outbid the one who is already doing it. I can redirect the user to the affiliate url which most of them do to fool google, it seems google catches them but till it does not its worth it.

      Not true.

direct linking is still as cheap as others.

granted, it takes time to build up history with adwords for the same landing destination page as someone else who has the same direct link.

as i say before, adwords will only show one of those adverts if it finds two identical urls that go to the same landing page, ie
      domain.com/ref=id1
      domain.com/ref=id2

are treated the same landing page url.
so google will only show one of those at any one time.

if ref=id1 had a campaign going longer than yours, granted, they'll have their ads shown more since they may of proved to adwords their ad is worthy enough.

if you're ref=id2 campaign comes in later, sure, you'll pay more for a while, but once you build up the history, it then turns into a bidding war if you're bidding on the same keyword.

there's no point in doing a hyperlink redirect url to a direct url, google knows what the overall landing page url will be any way.

you need to ask this question in a related post, not a PPC thread.

      but yes, it's vital.

The easyiest way to direct link I find is to forward a domain name you prurchase from godaddy.com ... Basically you find a product and if its name is www.myproduct.com you go to godaddy and purchase www.myproductz.com or something similiar then in your domain settings you go to forwarding and insert your affiliate URL in to the forwarding adress click 301 permantent and also click masking and then you are direct linking for once off $10.

Also google recognises this as a seperate URL and you do not compete with all the other direct linkers out therewhich give you a much higher quality score and cheaper links.

and for $10 a year its worth it
