Hey guys,

I've read a few things mentioning that when you index your sites and submit links to social bookmark sites that you shouldn't include a www. as he main extension and only to put yoursite.com. Is this true?

If so, could someone explain why?

Thanks!

Hi, I think it depends on the site, same say you should some say you shouldn’t, just read about what it says on posting to the site before you actual do it.

    Hi C,

Whichever one you choose, keep that for linkbuilding consistency as the www and non-www versions are viewed as 2 different pages by Google (or at least have done for a long time).

If you test those 2 versions of a site in opensiteexplorer.org, you'll see how striking the difference is.

This is 2012. This is not a problem.

Google just chooses which one seems the best
      to show.

      It's the same page.

Man, seriously, every site from twitter to youtube
now has different ways of getting to the same page...
      Hmmmm...should I use
      http: //twitter.com/myname
      https: //twitter.com/myname
      or even
      http:// twitter.com/#!/myname

Worry about something else that actually matters.

Hey Terry, thanks for the input. I tried that site out but my site is still only 2 weeks into creation so I can't see any of the differences yet. I can't wait for another 30 days to see more valuable information from my site though.

My only thing is I didn't want to sabotage any potential traffic I could be getting. Good looking out.

It was a valid question from a new guy. I also asked if it was the case or not. I tend to ask questions when they arise just to get the facts straight. Worrying about something else that actually matters is irrelevant because when someone asks a question, it's relevant to them.

I understand that you are more experienced than myself and I do appreciate your input though. I've just noticed on my analytic tools and webmaster tools that I've been using that the results are different from the www index vs. the non-www. That's why I asked.

        Thanks again.
