Eagerly Awaiting the next Penguin Update!

I had hoped that the original Penguin would slow down comment spam.

Sadly, the message doesn't seem to have gotten through, and people are still spamming away with links to their pyramids.

After having just spent more money on spam detection I'm hopeful the next update will at least take away the value of spammy link pyramids, or even better - heavily penalize people who are responsible for comment spam.

So come on spammers - justify your behavior to someone who foots the bill for cleaning up your crap.

You are one of those rare persons who are waiting for the next penguin update which will slap down a lot of websites again. But it will definitely help to reduce spamming around the web in the name of SEO.

I know several website operators who are looking forward to more sites being slapped down, because their sites go up - ie they're not involved in dodgy link building techniques.

      I'm not the only one.

I seriously doubt it will slap down THAT many, it might go after link wheels with a heavy footprint but seriously going after pyramids would be tricky due to a lot natural link structures follow a pyramid as well.

Granted I do well with updates but I am not worried of them or hoping for them either, after all you never know how crazy it might be.

The problem is that the links which are spammed are mainly from seo farms selling their seo services to stupid customers.. But first they spam contact forms and webmaster emails to offer their "services"..
So as long as there will be customers for that crap, the forum/comment spam will go on..

I'm hoping the customers will dry up when they don't get the results they want from these operators.

Yes that's wishful thinking, because those stupid enough to buy seo services following a spam are unlikely to do any tracking.. And when you see that the nigerian scams are still going strong after so much information about them, I'm sure there is plenty of such seo customers left to be fooled by seo farms emails which promise to put your site "on top of google"..
    But yes, let's hope :-)

Unfortunately many of our services are based around commenting/user generated content - it would be kind of like Facebook turning off user input.

I guess those who are doing spamming are not waiting eagerly for this update. You are too curious about the update man ....hope it will not hurt you though.

Recently There was an update from Google called Google Diversity Update,i hope it has not affected much as its the way Google shows results on SERPs.It has diversified their way of showing up the results.

Very little chance of our sites being hit by Penguin - 99% of our links are organic, and the other 1% come from links we placed via genuine participation - often being asked to provide links or content with links.

If anything, we expect improved SERPs from other sites getting demoted.

The diversity update had a net zero effect on us - some moved up and some moved down a little - overall Google traffic not affected. I was happy that we retained a few of our page 1 double listings as well.

Well,Penguin penalizes broadly while the Google Panda only penalize sub pages.
