Hello,
I have a couple of videos on Youtube and I wonder if it would be useful to upload the same videos on other sharing websites like youtube to get some backlinks. Would it be considered as a duplicate content?
What do you suggest to me to do ? are there any tricks about getting backlinks from videos sharing?
Thanks

Most backlinks coming from video sites are nofollow, so it won't help with your SEO much.

There are some SEO benefits if...

    1) Your video is outstanding and other websites will pick it up and embed it into their websites including the description that will have a link to your site

    2) You market your video properly in order for 1) to be accomplished

    3) Traffic. You should upload videos because they generate traffic to your site, not because they will serve as backlinks.

In my opinion, uploading the same video on site like youtube and then on facebook is not that bad. Some people might have access to youtube and not facebook and vice versa. I don't think there is anything wrong in uploading the same video in different sharing sites.

Video sharing sites should not be part of your backlink strategy, since it's mostly nofollow and doesn't allow you to add anchor text.

Use video marketing for driving traffic, nothing more.

  • Majdi33,

I would definitely upload your video to other sharing sites like Vimeo, Veoh and/or Daily Motion. As mentioned by other members, most of the links from these sites are no follow however you can still benefit from having them there. People still follow links from these sites and you can get more exposure online.

Also, your other videos will show up in search for the key terms you optimize them for which enhances your web presence overall.

Here is a good post from SEOMoz on video sharing,

    Hope that helps,

I don't think it would help with seo. But you should be able to get lots of traffic from the links in the description and by adding the url to the video itself in the title and credits.
