Ranking Images with PageRank

I wish to rank images in Google Images and have some ads next to them.

What makes images rank on page1 in Google Images?

Page rank of the home page or what?

Does having a paragraph of text either side of the image help much?

I own several PR3 blogs and a PR4 site that has a blog on it. Non of them are image related as such.

I am trying to work out if I should registrar a new virgin domain with PR 0 (N/A) or use my PR 4 site or buy another aged site ?

Any suggestions on ranking images please?

Kind Regards, Ducky

While adding Image make sure to add Alt tag with your targeted keywords. This little SEO will boost your rank in image search. Seriously!!

The title tag on an images is about as useful as a boat anchor on an airplane.

For the guy that thinks social is how to rank an image, good luck with that.

It is really so easy to rank in Google Images. Make your Image size standard to Google standard sizes and give appropriate title and alt text.

Thanks for the great advice everyone.

One thing I am still wondering is how important a root domain with a PR of 3 or 4 will be compared to a virgin domain.

Anyone have any experience they wish to share,,,please?

Hi Ducksauce! Sorry for late reply. Google Image standard sizes can be find easily. Just search for a image in Google Images and in the left column you can see the image size ranges, in that select larger than option, you can see many size ranges in a drop down menu ranging from 400x300 to 9600x7200. Try to use the image sizes of first three, so that your image get indexed easily and will have more impressions, because it will be viewed in mobile browsers too. If you mouse over the images, you can the image file name, so keep the file name close to your target keyword.
