Does Article Submission still work for SEO?

I was wondering if anyone still uses article submissions with anchor text for building backlinks? If so does this work? I typically do very little link building as I'm focused mainly on micro niche sites. But was wondering if I was to do some of this would my sites rank higher and more quickly?

Thanks in advance.

Yes they still help. A dofollow backlink from an authority site is good to get. I wouldn't use low quality article directories that allow mass submissions and spun articles. Find the one that ensure quality like ezinearticles and hubpages.

Also look into Press Release sites. There are many quality free ones that really do help.

      • Article submission still is a great way to get traffic and exposure for your website. However, you need to focus on quality directories and submit compelling content. Adding content to hundreds of low quality directories won't help you at all.

Yes, article submission still works for SEO - but, if that's the only thing you do, you probably won't see any results. The important thing is to make your backlinks look as natural as possible: build BLs from many different sources, build BLs on a regular basis (keep a constant rhythm) and vary the anchor text of your BLs.

The more competitive your keywords are, the more quality links you will need: authority sites in a related niche, guest posting, .edu & .gov links (but not those with hundreds of OBLs)...

Backliks from article directories are low quality links, but it's ok to add them to the mix.

Actually, it depends on how you go about it.

Submitting to thousands of site is of little or no use and when you spin the damn article.

I found it more powerful writing high quality article on a hot niche and submitting them on top traffic article directories. There seems to be a good rate of syndication if you do over time.

And also back link those article with high pr social bookmark and other relevant blog or sites.

I agree with that we should submit article in only quality sites instead of low quality site and more spun articles. Spun article submission is just only waste of time nothing else.

Yes Matt, Article submissions still work, but do NOT go for spun content. That may hurt your ranks. It is good idea to use Article submission + Microsites.
That will really work, go for few bookmarks for each published articles and to your inner pages of the site as well - That may help bit more...

I think it does. One of the things I don't like about "article directories", however, is the fact that they "sterilize" your articles.

In many cases, getting "the click" depends on where you place your affiliate link or links (if they even allow them...most don't).

That is why I rarely use them anymore...oh well...more unique content for my site...LOL!

    It still works. Sort of.

First of all, if you're using some kind of software, I'd advise you to really spin your articles so they become almost completely legit. If you're not up for it, have someone else do it for you.

Secondly, when building tons of article links - don't build them directly to your money site. Send all the links to say, web 2.0's that are in turn pointing to your site.

I always aim at having only a couple of high quality links pointing to my webpage. I only use article directories to juice up other links.

This is all based on my experience with SEO approx. 2 years ago.

Article directory submission cannot use for new website. You must check your website PR and domain age before making any SEO strategy.
The bulk article directory submission is only get positive effect for big and high pr website. Will get negative effect for new and PR1 and 2 website.

So my impression is that if you know how to promote yourself and had a old with large backlinking profile everything works..

But for newer sites it is other story.... I do not recommend those listed above

    Cheers

Yes Article Submission still works. May not be as powerful as it used to be, but it still contributes significant link juice. It shouldn't be your main SEO strategy for the long run.

Anyways, NONE of the SEO techniques are all-powerful these days; they always get abused every time. You really have to diversify and maintain your link building for the long term if you want to boost your site's SEO.

Every tiny link building strategy will add up a lot in the long run, and article submission is one of them, so do it good once off.

It works even better than some time ago because most spammers have left these sites and now article approval speed is much faster and the quality in general is much higher.

Strategy when people where making spun content and then published it to thousands of articles directories are no longer working and unique and well written content is the only way of doing thing today.

I have had a great success from article marketing and not because of backlinks but because of loads of traffic that these website can generate if you write a good content.

I still submit articles to the high quality directories. They were all listed previously in the thread. If you don't want to create new content for them, you can simply post an article from your site on them. If you do this, start with ezine first. If it is an informative article, they will accept it and maybe some people will syndicate it. That is really the goal of submitting to article directories anyway.

Yes, article submissions work (and they work very well) because the backlinks are contextual and relevant to your website and targeted keywords. It is best to submit to article directories that have a high PR, and to use multiple versions of an article (unique content).

Article submission is one of the most important part of SEO. This is shown by the following
    1. free advertising even if a paid submision service is used
    2. increased website traffic
    3. business exposure thanks to the hundreds of links created on various websites
    4. use of a cost effective tool
Thus is one of the greatest ways by which you can back links to your site. It is believed as an SEO technique that is much better than link exchange and the use of link exchange websites.

Yes article submission still works and it’s one way of increasing anchor diversity. Building contextual links from high quality article directories (mix of do-follow and no-follow) is the way to go. You can also build links from other types of high authority sites– wiki, web 2.0, blog posts, video, document sharing, etc. to have more diverse link profile.

Once the article is usually posted, you can even post the link aimed at your website on the resource box provided by these websites. So, when the readers view your post, most of them might visit your website for more information about it.
If that article website is dofollow then then you can get quality back links as well,
so article is still work and it is the great way to get traffic and back links .
    Best regards .
