I am diving into IM, I have done a ton of reading on here and I am going to START with Amazon Sites... My question is, a lot of the domain(s) I want to buy the .com's are all taken, but most of them have the .net and .org available.. Is there really a big difference in having a .net compared to a .org?? Id prefer to get .org as it will save me $3 per domain.. Just trying to save every penny I can so I can invest in advertising etc..

Thanks in advance
#com or net or org #matter

Of course the best would be try to get the .com since people usually remember .coms better.

Personally, if the .com is not available, i'll usually go for a .net for a normal site and a .org if it's health related.

    Hope this helps.

Makes no difference in terms of SEO or ranking. Where it does make a difference is when you're trying to make an authority site and working to brand the website.

a .com has more authority than a .net or a .org. its very difficult to find a domain that you want that isn't taken. i highly suggesting grabbing a .com, but if you can't....and you want to choose between a .net or a .org.....i would probably agree and go with a .org. the difference might be marginal, but i believe a .org would have more authority and look less spammy than a .net.

All three extensions are fine for what you will be setting up. If you ever go with an authority site, however, try to find a good .com.
Personally, I prefer .org over .net, because it works better with some niches naturally as the .org is seen as non-commercial related by a lot of people - .net is an extension without a solid identity imo, but some prefer it over .org.

I agree on the .com if you're looking for authority. There is less of an emphasis on exact match domains these days, so don't worry so much about having your keyword match the domain exactly. But yeah, think a name thats easy to remember.

In my experience it makes no difference whatsoever. I would stick with the big three however.

Another benefit of a .com is if you come to want to sell the site (or domain) in the future.

Personally prefer .org over .net but haven't noticed any difference in SEO/rankings between any of the three extensions.

Try getting a .com if you can still find one, otherwise you can go for a .net or .org

Hey, firstly its great you have decided to enter the world of internet marketing. With the right focus and know- how you can really start changing your life around become independent.

Now as your are starting out, i assume you have done your keyword research and happy with your aquired domain name. It also best that the name consist of two words- max three. Try and avoid not placing hyphens in the name. Now for the purposes of SEO and authority, you could aquire your domain name along side the .com-.org.net etc. You can narrow down the domains and avoid other trying get in on your name.

However at the moment then try and stick with .com. Who does't use this worldwide.

No, it doesn't matter for SEO purposes. Yes, it might matter for human visitor purposes.

I really don't think it matters at all with rankings but simply for people to remember. I see plenty of .net .org ranking tops

I would recommend .org if you can’t buy .com domain as it is more authoritative than .net. The people most likely remember .com and .org than .net. Basically, it doesn’t matter in terms of SEO, but it does matter in people who are visiting.
