Hi Guys,

Im ready to start getting backlinks to my new niche site. But we do not have budget to pay for any backlinks just yet, so where do we start?
We want to gain high quality backlinks with pages that have PR4+

Where do we go to find these, and places where you dont have to pay?

Thanks

  • You can always plan your backlinking strategy... As you know there are many ways to build quality backlinks!! When you're planning to do it manually it would consume your time!! Just a lil longer!! But don't worry as long you get the work done at the right way

Honestly, your plan is impossible. People who own PageRank 4 web pages know the value. They won't link to you without compensation. Why would they? If you were in their boat you would do the same.

With no money you're stuck in the world of PR N/A and PR 0 pages.

This is such complete and utter nonsense. You think every link from a PR5-10 website in the world is a paid link?

The easiest ways to get links from relevant, high PR pages is to write dynamite content. Then you either i) create awareness of your great content smartly to get relevant sites to link to it, or ii) guest post at high authority sites and blogs and get a backlink credit.

It's crazy to say it's "impossible" to get free high PR backlinks. I've got multiple PR5 backlinks right now from guest posting.

Nonsense! There is a bunch of linkbuilding-methods! She is not stuck at all - it may take a little more work, but it's worth it. You don't have to buy high PR links, especially not if you can write good posts/articles.

It will be hard to get PR4 backlinks, free of charge. I would like to do so, by myself
I'm just curious about the topic of your niche site?

    I will be backlinking manually.
How much money to these PR4+ websites/blogs expect to backlink?

My niche topic is a spiritual/psychic niche site

You can get links on PR 4 or above "sites" easily. You can do this through commenting and that type of thing. However, the link will end up being on a "page" with much lower PR. That's the way most people with low budgets have to do it.

There must be not much websites/blogs about your niche.
Check Directorycritic.com go to niche directories and look for directories in your topic.
    Start from directory listings.
I remember, have exchanged links with india-astrologer.com. Try to guest posts or link exchange with them, as well.

Seriously...do not build any backlinks. You will regret it one day. Just write lots of interesting articles and you will get traffic and lots of it. I've done all that backlink crap for years until I got smart. You never have to worry about Google algo changes if you don't backlink. It just is not worth the risk. I learned the hard way.

My blog has 420 articles and is 6 months old. I'm getting about 100 visitors per day right now. My blog has 3,200 keywords in Google with 75,000 impressions per month. It's grown over 300% since last month. I have made a few sales too. The first 4 months of a blog are basically the sandbox. You get little or no traffic. But after the 4th month it all changes and after the 5th month, things start rolling.

I'm no newbie at IM. I have been at it for over 5 years. 4 1/2 years were wasted with SEO crap. I finally decided to try different things to see what works and I found it.

I've got a .edu backlink to our site which looking at Market Samurai is not included in the .EDU column. Is there a more definitive way of searching all .Gov backlinks and finding out which could accept backlinks?

The niche is pretty small, so I think the best way to get backlinks is to register on several forums, insert your link in the signature and wherever you can without it looking like spam and be an active member - over time, it really pays off.

Guest posting is also an excellent way of getting backlinks fast, although you'll need to spend time writing some good content.

I presume that, as an IM'er, you are already using firefox as your browser.

install the SEO Quake plugin - which shows you the pagerank of any page you visit, as well as those in the google results.

Go do a google blog search on related topics, and see what pops up.

see where yo can leave comments on pages with good pagerank, and especially on pages with not too many outbound links.

Also remember to mix it up - remember having ONLY PR4+ links pointing to a new site will not look natural. If a site is good (as google sees it) many people with different websites will link to it - not just authority sites

My advice would be to start with forums posting - use an anchor text as your signature, register in forums where you can post your website for review, submited to few directories - choose wise as there are a lot out there but some of them dissaper or don't provide quality backlinks. Do only these and update your website with content written by yourself in about 3 months you will begin to see results. I speak from my own experince here.

I see that the self-proclaimed "SEO experts" here can't help you so I'll give you a tip.

DON'T START TO SPAM BLOGS WITH COMMENTS BECAUSE THE BIG G' DOESN'T LIKE SPAM!

Blog commenting and forum posting which has been suggested here do also often only give you nofollow backlinks. Backlinks which the search engines overlooks. You want a mix of both nofollow and dofollow backlinks and it's the dofollow backlinks that gives you the link juice.

And don't care to much about .EDU and .GOV backlinks. You've may heard that a backlink from one of those sites will "boost your rankings dramatically compared to backlinks from other extesions"... This is also totally wrong! The "power" in .EDU and .GOV backlinks is a complete myth among self-proclaimed "SEO experts" who doesn't have a clue what they're talking about. You can fine just look for TLD extensions like .com, .org and .net. They'll do the exact same job. Google do also value backlinks from domestic domains.

Do this to get free dofollow backlinks (there is numerous of ways, but I like this one):

    1. Install the free SEO add-on SEOquake to FireFox or Google Chrome.

    2. Activate SEOquake and search in Google for blogs in your niche and notice the ones that has the PR you are looking for.

    3. Contact the blog owner and ask if you can guest post on his or her's blog and tell him or her that the only thing you want back is a dofollow backlink back to your site. Don't forget to tell that you've written a lot of articles before about the subject! You can even include some articles you've already written in the contact message/email so they can see the quality of your articles.

    4. If the blog owner agree on this, you only need to write a good article for his or her's blog and you'll get your free dofollow backlink in return!

But I would recommend you to get backlinks from both low and high PR sites to give it a human and normal pattern. I would also recommend you to create a good mix of both nofollow and dofollow backlinks. Because the big G' want it natural!

You're damn HOT by the way GeekGirl!

Start by creating a quality site.

    Submit to free directories
    Submit to big article sites
    Create web 2.0 pages
    Comment on relevant blogs
    Guest post on relevant blogs

Its a lot of work and an uphill struggle. Investing some money in to backlinks will build authority quicker and get the ball rolling but if you work hard enough you will get there.

IMO its a question of what do you value more, your time or your money. I invest in backlinks because i prefer my time and i know the ROI they can bring if you implement your strategy correctly.

    Hope that helps.

Start a blog with blogger or wordpress. Then write articles with links pointing to your site. I think those are the most valuable backlinks ever do to the simple fact that these 2 sites are established high PR sites.

I agree with @taskemann. Guest blogging is a great way to go to get quality inbound links from sites with good pagerank. It's more work, but you end up with links worth their weight in gold. In Google's new algorithms, links from within content are worth considerably more than links coming from blog comments, forum profiles, and many of the other suggestions offered above. Focus on quality links from within content to get the best clout from your links.

Try some blog commenting. If you pick the right subject matter, it is possible to find PR3 and PR4 pages to manually comment on.

I've found some topics that are good to blog search on include: wordpress help sites, theme sites and plugins, recipes, iphone and apple blogs, graphic design, web design, marketing, copywriting and so on.

Go to Google and do a search on best 10 blogs about [subject]

eg. top 10 blogs about graphic design

Here's an example of a PR4 page with comments still open

You will find the top 10 will have decent PR and some internal pages will also have decent PR.

Well, if you don't want to pay, your best bet is guest blogging or blog commenting.

Easy, do guest blogging on high PR blogs, pr2,3,4 is enough.

if the website you guest blogged on is a good one (good backlinks, proper seo, good site structure) in the next PR update the guest article you posted could have a PR (one pr) lower than the homepage PR.

so meaning.... if you guest blogged on a PR3 site, your article on that site could possibly get at PR2 on the next update, and now you have a free backlink from a PR2 page

this may be not always the case for many sites, but I have seen this always happen on quality (and also even on just so-so quality) websites.
