Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice and maybe links to software and or templates.

Basically iv been asked to produce an SEO audit for one of my clients websites. Im a web developer by trade.

I want to put together a presentation to be delivered via powerpoint and show my client their current "position on the web".

They have many competitors so i was thinking of comparing their position to that of their nearest 3 competitors.

I want to present this information in an easy to digest method and will probably use some nice info-graphics.

I then at the end want to suggest a plan of action.

I also want to compare their social media penetration.

The problem i have is were do i start?
There is so many facets and areas to show i dont know where to begin!!

Any advice or maybe a template i could follow would be great.

Thanks for reading!

I'm guessing that you don't already have any software or subscriptions to places that can do this work for you, so here's two places to checkout - SEOMoz - signup for their 30 day trial and use the OpenSiteExplorer tool - that will dump a ton of information to you. Then pop on over to Link-Assistant and grab their trial too. You'll be able to export some pretty reports and do some side-by-side comparisons. Depending on your timeframe that you have to work with, check out RavenTools.com - this is what I use 99% of the time when presenting to clients. You'll need to do some site researches, some keyword searches, then enter their competitors and it will track everything for you - again, hit up the 30 day trial.

If you want to go the manual route, go to google, type the keyword(s) for the business, write down the top 3 that show on google and compare that way.
It's a pretty manual process either way. Check out Alexa too, that's handy for giving you some information on keywords a site ranks for, and check out SpyFu too (another site I subscribe too) - lots of valuable information in there too.

As for where to start - just pick SOMETHING and start. Just like a painter staring at a blank canvas, take your brush, dip it in ANY color, and make a smudge - the rest will follow.
