Are PMDs affected, or just EMD

I would like to know if the new update targeted Partial match domains, or was it focused primarily on EMDs. I have a few low quality PMDs, that were unaffected by the update, if anything the ranking increased a little.

yes EMD's and PMD's have dropped significantly. All the tricks are being wiped out!

It's been a really tough year for IM'ers: Unnatural Link Penalties that kill your site, blog networks de-indexed, Penguin, various enhancements to Panda and now an EMD Penalty!

Yes, this yr has been crazy, and to think there will be more updates in the future.

This site Off the Shoulder Tops is a PMD, for the keyword phrase "off the shoulder tops" it wasn't ranking for it's primary keywords to begin with, but after the update it's rankings increased, for long tail queries, the content is the same as amazon, and it has only 14 links.

Not just partial domains but also sites with a lot of exact match URLs + tons of other stuff. A pretty big update tbh.

As I posted in becker's thread, it is impossible to know all the qualifiers to determine if a EMD/PMD is hit by the update. The only thing I think anyone can say with certainty at this point is if you have a EMD/PMD you run the risk of being hit, you also have to wonder if perhaps future changes will hit those that escaped this round.

I create 4 sites like the one I mention in the post above, so far none have been hit, these sites were for a case study, I was trying to rank them using Magic Submitter, basically no ranking improved from using the software.

These sites are actually pretty crappy, I mean the content is the same as Amazon, maybe blogger has special powers lol.

I think Bnetwork is onto something - when SEO people work on pages it's common to see exact match keywords in the domain, URL, Title, Meta Description, H1, Body and Internal Linking....this could become a huge flag as they're forms of exact match.

Plugins like SEO Pressor could actually be setting people up for serious negative effects

If we make sites in a natural way, I wouldn't see a need for all of that, I mean if you love baking, and wanted to make a website all about baking, why would you need a keyword tool to tell you corn muffins get 9,000 a month, or why would you need to over optimize or worry about keyword density, instead of just writing about what you love, your favorite baking recipes, what you learned in baking school etc.

Agreed but I was thinking of a single page that has and exact match trophy keyword for all of the on-site SEO elements: Title, URL, H1, Meta Description with internal linking on the same exact match keyword - this could be a flag in the future. When i look at natural sites they often do have keywords in various places but its a lot more random and varied generally.
