What Your Link Building Strategy Should be After the Panda and Penguin Update

We have seen plenty of complaints after the Panda and Penguin updates and nobody's to blame. Tips and techniques have come out everywhere telling you what to do and what not to do. This could just be one of those tips but I am hoping that this can prove helpful to others who are still seeking answers to questions on how to recover after being hit by Panda and Penguin.

Build Quality Links
This can never be reiterated enough. Focus more on building quality links instead of trying to fix those poor ones. You'll ultimately have a higher ratio and for this, you'll get your reward.

Leave No Trace Behind
Most website owners used to go only after one-way links at the side bar or footer of a website. This affected them because it looked obviously manipulated. Be sure to get varied types of links such as footer links, content links, image links, resource links, social media links and no-follow links. It won't look over-manipulated that way.

A Mishmash of Anchor Text
In the same way as you want varied types of links, it is also equally important to have varied anchor texts within your link profile. Not all will describe your website in the same way and so not everyone will link to you in the same way, too. Make sure that you have exact-match keyword links, brand links, partial match keyword links and non-descriptive links.

Patience is a Virtue
You have to WAIT for results since SEO is a venture. You can't expect results to be seen instantly. Using the above techniques right now can mean you'll notice effects in 4 months to a year depending on your keywords and how good or bad things started.

Final Words
You might get disappointed and will start doubting your techniques but be patient with the white-hat strategy because it is effective. Google is here to make the web better and more secure. It's not here to penalize all websites. Let's make sure our website becomes part of that better and more secure place.

I can't tell you how awesome it would be if more clients thought like you haha.

Of course most clients would WANT to see results ASAP. That's why they need to understand that SEO doesn't happen overnight.

      Seriously.

Better content, better ranking, less blackhats, more relevent search results, encouraging REAL VALUABLE content, sounds good to me.

Exactly, it just keeps us all on our toes.

Yes, you can do them only on the sites you own. Who knows we might get some strange updates like a monkey update

I agree with you. To add my two cents - people started seeing guest posts as a "safe way of building links". The problem is in the fact that if you are only going to build one type of backlinks, your effort will be wasted. That is why it's important to mix your links as much as possible - even with some low quality links (just don't over do it).

Actually.. this is what your link building strategy should of been before all this, doesn't matter if you use white, black or grey techniques.
