I currently have a number of small site (~5 pages) that are running adsense using the CTR theme. I want to build up the sites since the EMD update really hurt them and I'm wondering if I should change the theme. Any recommendations?

Literally anything that looks nice and has a good page flow. The aesthetics are up to you.

Are you certain that the penalty was because of the CTR theme ? I dont believe so. You might change the theme on all the sites at a time and still it might not recover from the penalty. I suggest change the theme on one site and see if there is any impact. Add additional content on other site and see if there is any impact.

The point is , you first need to identify what has actually caused the penalty. Then get rid of that cause.

I don't think so that u can blame CTR theme for it . It might be something else . changing it wouldn't make any difference .

As CTR Theme could have been used on unlimited sites, lots of shallow sites exist with barely any content using keywords as EMD. Sites with content and CTRTheme are doing well.

    Hey Friends,

CTR Theme has launched their updated theme with a new subtheme. Menu Bar and header image. Looks cool. Check it out.

      They're pretty easy to find:

insurance "Powered by CTR Theme" site:.net

Most of the sites are junk, but that's only because the majority of IMers aren't serious, not really a theme's fault.

Do you still utilize CTR theme?

No I don't use CTR on my sites. I've customized my own theme that started out as a free theme, I hard code most stuff on the theme template pages.

The CTR theme with the green anchor-text has a decent layout, but the number of Ads needs to be toned down. I never run more than two/three Ad blocks on my pages, anything more is overkill IMO. Also those CTR push down images need to be removed, that's just clutter. There's a lot more I would tweak (mostly internal links).

I did try CTR when it first came out & went back to my own theme/setup.
