I opened up an Adsense account for my new website (this is my first account)
But previously my business partner had opened up an Adsense account for a blog and never used it.

So they emailed me after my application and told me to get rid of one account (the previous one was approved) They gave me two options and I followed this option:

"If you aren't able to sign in to your AdSense account or change the
email address associated with your account, we can close your existing
account and open a new account with the application you recently
submitted. Any account settings, reports, or earnings less than $10 (or
local equivalent) from your closed account will not be paid out or
transferred to your new account"

I submitted the form they gave me to close the old account and continue with my new account and new application, i sent the form back they said they would get back to me within 48 hours and its been 5 days now and ive not heard a thing.

Is there something else I should be doing? Can anyone suggest what I should do next?

Unfortunately there is not much to do when it comes to communicating with Google.

However, 5 days is not too long, so you may want to wait for a few more days until they get back to you.

If they don't, you can use the Google Groups and ask the same question there, hoping someone from the community will be able to answer (as it is very unlikely that you will receive a reply from a Google rep).

PS: This is the first time I hear something like this, by the way. Aren't the two accounts opened by two different people (you and your partner)? Or am I missing something?

Ah OK, it makes sense if it's the same address.
