I continue to read suggestions to get away from Google and focus more on Bing and Yahoo. But I don't know really how to do that. My site that tanked thanks to Penquin/Panda/whatever still gets a bit of traffic from these other search engines, and of course I would like to increase that. I know it will never match the big G, but if there a way to optimize specifically for those other engines, I would like to know about it.

Any ideas, please?

Actually this isn't even close to being correct, Google has walked away from using meta data and for some aspects the site map file. They rely heavily on both their own methods to find the keywords within content and their spiders to discover content.

But do you agree that meta data and site map info are still important to Bing and Yahoo? That focusing on these issues is what will increase traffic in those search engines?

This is the kind of info I'm looking for. Also, wondering if there's some kind of tool for keywords for Bing and Yahoo like Googles adword tool.

At this time I have heard nor seen anything that makes me think Yahoo/Bing have gone away from meta info and site maps. So if those 2 engines are your focus then I would make the suggestion of learning how to get the most of out of them and using them like a religion.

          But......

At the same time realize this, if these 2 search engines ever start to make advancements into market share look for this kind of stuff to fall into oblivion. I say this because Yahoo just hired a new CEO who was a SVP for Google and MS has shown it is not afraid to make changes as well if it views it is a solid money maker.

In my experience Yahoo and Bing rely heavily on your site map so keeping it up to date is important, also knowing how to work the different elements in the site map can help you as well. Just do some research to educate yourself.

Bing rely on meta keywords also in the ranking.
