Hi,

I guest posted on a blog and included a link to one of my WordPress pages in it. Then I got notifyed about that I had received a trackback or pingback (I don't remember which one it was).

But what I'm wondering on is if it is positive for my sites SEO to accept & approve the pingbacks and trackbacks?

Thanks,

Jimmy

They used to work 5 years before. They have been abused by the blackhat marketers and google eventually stopped passing any value to the trackbacks/pingbacks anymore. Now a days the SEO benefits of these are not very much. Besides blog owners are finding it really difficult to manage the trackback/pingbacks.

Most of the blogs owners disable these at this moment. No apparent SEO value.

Trackback and pingback still works. The truth is that we give search engines too much credit. It is difficult for SEs not to count backlinks, and in fact the so called "nofollow" links. They can only reduce the impact of these links on rankings. No link is useless, especially if it is targeted and has a good anchor text.

Trackback link works far better than spamming with AMR, had you experienced that yourself before trying to tell the result.
In my experience, they works better than AMR blast or some forum links, don't listen to rumor unless you tested it yourself.

Well it does not have much effect on SEO. It can help your visitors to know where else you had posted. Also dont worry about reciprocal linking If the links are on good authority sites and are in the content (not a blogroll link) there is no penalty
