Google Adsense Glitch?

Hi,

I've been into adsense for about a week now so i still check it pretty often(around once every hour). I noticed something very interesting. When checking my earnings, i see that i have received a click worth $2.69. I'm thinking to myself, great hopefully i get more clicks like that throughout the day. I check again the next hour and see that the $2.69 is gone but my click still shows.

My guess is google considered that an invalid click or accidental click after monitoring how long the user stayed on the follow-up page. If the user clicks on one of my google ads but closes the window right away, i'm pretty sure i won't get paid for that particular click correct?

Let me know if i have the right idea. I get about 2 of these clicks a day and am wondering if it's just invalid clicks or if it's something else.

Correct, you won't get paid for it. They are what is commonly referred to as "Invalid Clicks". People have been banned for them but I am fairly sure no one knows the metrics for how or when this occurs. Best you can do is just make sure you follow the ToS and Webmaster Guide lines to the letter.

Correct me if i'm wrong, google doesn't have a support team that you can contact directly. Either by email or by phone? They just refer you to their Help Center.

You are correct, there is basically no way or method to contact them. The best you can get is a person who has been on their product forums for a while.

        This is partially correct.

They do have support teams - I have a dedicated Adsense representative who I communicate with on a monthly basis about ways to improve earnings. But you have to be doing significant Adsense business first - you don't call them, they call you if they are interested in working more closely with you.

For most people they only option for being heard by Adsense support is posting in the support forums: Google Groups

As I said.. no way or method to contact them. You were contacted by them..He is just starting out so there was no point in going on with any other information because it simply wouldn't be available to him at this point. I could of told him when he gets to about 20 million impressions a month he could perhaps join the premium program as well but that wouldn't help him much at this point.

            Good point.

I thought it was worth a mention because some people may have heard about people talking directly with Adsense staff and get confused when others imply it's not possible.

There are alternative ways of monetizing sites such as Amazon and ClickBank that work well. However, for quick and easy monetization, Adsense (unfortunately) cannot be beat right now.

Everybody gets invalid clicks. Everybody. Many just
don't know it, as they check their stats and see
10 clicks $5, but have no clue that maybe that was
only for 8 clicks...the more traffic and clicks, the
      more invalid you will get.

      Invalid clicks are not clickfraud.

Google tells you upfront not to contact them about
such nonsense. People that tell you to just
don't read anything that google publishes.

The other day I know I had at least 10 invalid clicks.

Invalid clicks have nothing to do with the amount either.
I've had 5 cents taken away, and $5 taken away.

I think that most of my invalid clicks are double clicks
getting double money. I'd say 9 times out of ten when
I get money taken back, it's half of what I should have got.
Probably connection issues. People are impatient (like
my wife) they'll double-triple click because they just
know it will help load the friggin page quicker!!!! Like those
people at crosswalks, pushing the button, over and over,...

Images probably have a tendency to get more invalid clicks,
as anywhere on the ad is a click, where as just the title and
      link are for text.

When people get canned for invalid clicks, IMHO it's not the
system checking an invalid click and crediting it back. It's
something longer term, other signals, "fraud" or mindless
      traffic doing clicks, etc.

I get frustrated with invalid clicks, but also breathe easier
knowing that the system is working. When you end the month
with $2000, and a few days later google reduces it to $500, then
      you worry.

I understand. So basically, just accept what google pays you. There will be no point in questioning it.

My main concern was something might have been wrong with my account. I'm sending legit quality traffic and have no clue why i would get invalid clicks. But your explanation was on the money.
