Hi Guys.

2 years ago i created a couple of EMD websites with domains that contained 2 and 3 keywords (18 characters long).

Those domains have some ok traffic (around 1000 visitors per day).

The question is should i move them to a shorter and non EMD domain ?

Thanks

If you have quality content I would stay it as it is.

  • Agree with Camay. EMD sites are starting to do well in secondary searches and if the trend continues good EMD sites will recover to 80% of their previous strength. You can then build more content and more links for site to rank on other keywords that are not in the doman name

it depends if you are building a brand, get a shorter easy to remember domain. But if your EMD is getting 1000 visits per day, why fix what is already working.

Not all EMD sites got penalized by Google.

If you have quality content and your back link profile is decent you might be ok although this EMD update is probably ongoing.

I agree with the above comments. Having an EMD on a website with quality content should be a problem. The EMD just doesn't provide the boost that it used to.

I would not switch from the EMD unless you want to go to a more brandable domain. Don't do it because you fear an EMD "penalty."

      Thanks for all the replies.

The domain is doing well for some reason and makes around 2-3 $ per day and rising.

But everytime i look at the domain name of 18 characters and with 3 keywords, i ask my self how did i do that !!!!

On the other hand i would like to make it more brandable.

Not sure what i will do.

Yeah, I'm confronted with pretty much the same dilemma, I have a quality EMD site, and Google didn't penalize it, but the ugly domain name makes it hard to promote and turn into an authority site. I'm thinking about a 301 redirect to a brandable domain

It is a tough decision. My EMD is crazy-bookmarked due to the fact that the content is user-made mostly. And everyone bookmarks his page.

I have already bough a 5 years old 5 characters nice domain for brand but i hesitate to move.
