Hi guys, l have a question l was hoping some of you could help me out with.
I want to know the best method to embed video transcripts onto a page for the purpose of SEO.

Our site has two types of video players, some pages have a flow player video that's hosted on a CDN, while other pages have straight up youtube video embeds.

Is the best method to embed a transcript using a blockquote tag, or is there a better method that search engines crawl and understand better?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only way I could find to do it was through the use of the Schema.org framework, you will have to be using HTML5 on your site to take advantage of this mark-up, see: schema.org/VideoObject.

Unfortunately I haven't found a way of doing it within the confines of HTML <5, so the best work-around I could think of was to utilise video sitemaps (see: support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=80472) to submit as much information as possible to Google and then have the transcript as normal content on the page, I wouldn't be surprised if Google had a classifier in their algorithm to figure out that this is a transcript, but even if they don't it should still be good, indexable content.
