Where to Aim/Attribute the Social Proof?

I know that Google considers social proof (in this case Facebook likes) as a ranking factor, to what extent I don't know, but I wasn't sure how it worked exactly.

I'm embedding a like button on one page in particular of my site and I can choose the target URL which receives that "like" whether it's my brand's Facebook page, the homepage itself, or the specific URL I'm embedding this like button on my site.

From an SEO point of view, should I be make the URL where the likes get attributed to out to be my main URL/homepage, my Facebook page, or a specific page I'd like to rank?

Not really sure how this works. Thanks for the input.

I would say that it's best to have likes on homepage, which will increase overall site reputation and possibly rankings. But I recommend that you embed a like button to each page with content as well, so if people like particular article/post that will help too.

I have done some research in this area, and if you wish to rank a specific page then the best thing to do is to try and get that specific URL shared on social networks by active and influential users, exactly the same way PageRank would flow.

Try and make it even, all over your site. Don't just hit your main page or one page.
