What's the easiest way to set up multiple 301 redirects?

Hi all, I've recently moved a site to a new domain.and 301'd all urls to parallel pages on the new domain using the redirection wordpress plugin.

However can anyone tell me if there is an easy way (for future reference) to have all of these redirects set up without having to have the wordpress CMS parked on my old domain?

I don't like the thought of it just sitting there (even if it's secure) as it's untidy and will also be taking up server space (all be it not much).

Would I be able to just specify these redirects in a .htaccesfile? If I can do I need anythings else? Or is it just the .htaccess file by itself in the old domain's server folder?

Thanks in advance!

Use a 301 htaccess redirect and delete all cms content on old domain once you got your multiples redirect going. About programming the 301 redirect to be really effective, im not certain.
