Adsense revenue dropped 60% after website update

Hiya,

so I run a personal website, not massive, but it was making some money. I recently updated it to switch from a php static html website to be built entirely in WordPress. I was expecting that this would make everything work a lot better.

However, although I have the same traffic, and the same content, and I'm blogging at the same rate (and I actually added an extra advert between my blogposts), my revenue crashed by 60%. I'm baffled. Does anyone have any idea how I could go about working out what went wrong?

Did you use a plugin to add the Adsense code? Some plugins maliciously swap out your Adsense code for theirs.

It's not easy to answer this without further data. Is your CTR still the same?

If the traffic's the same, the problem will be either the number of clicks or the earnings per click. Adding an extra ad block may sometimes harm your CPC as the highest bidders are generally placed on the top spots. So the 2nd and 3rd ad blocks get lower bids.

In that case, if people are clicking on those lower blocks, you will receive a lot less CPC.

      Hiya,

no, it dropped from 0.61% to 0.18% before and after the switch.

I do not use a plug-in for adsense, it's in my code... somewhere (I paid someone else to build it).

re ads, I have one under the left hand sidemenu, one at the bottom of the page, and one that appears at the end of blogposts but before comments. You think I should remove that one?

Were the ads placed at the same spots before you changed the design? If so, that's strange.

Perhaps there is something in your new design that draws people's attention away from the ads.

Regarding the 3rd block, yeah I'd remove it if I were you. From what I understand, the 2nd and 3rd blocks are too close to each other (one at the bottom of the page and the other before the comments).

That's all I can say without actually seeing the site and knowing how it looked like before the change.

I think that is just a moment as the adsence is working like an auction
Just focus on the keyword Research and optimize the article, Based on my experience, Donot put over 2 unit ads on your site and the banner often brings in higher commisison.
