For a small authority site. What is a good amount of keywords that one should have before deciding the niche is good to go?

Also, is it best to focus on only 1 keyword per blog post/page or can I do better buy incorporating 2-3 keywords per blog or page?

    It is good to target 3 - 4 keywords for a particular web page or blog. Keyword research and niche finding is the important step. Also remember that google penguin has started penalizing the websites got backlinks with more than 60% of same anchor text. If you are concentrating on the single keyword then you may have to face the penguin.

    Whatever Authority Website, it is better to have 2 Keywords per Blog Post with 30 words interval between the two keywords linking to different pages or different Domains better..

    the more keywords the better for an authority site, you might havea only 2-3 for each post or page, but the main site all together, you should be aiming for at least a good list of 30-50 to plan out your strategy going forwards, with a range of competition also,
    short term, meium term, long term
    GKWT is a good place to start, niche finder, and market samurai can helo you get some more ideas as well as data for competition

    If you are only using one keyword you may be considered guilty of keyword stuffing as you will end up mentioning the keyword more often than considered kosher by Google.

    i think you should use 2-3 keyword with LSI per blog post, because after google update you need more variation in keyword

    Keywords research is different for different websites.Fist analyze your your complete website and their competitors websites.
    IF your websites is services offering website and your business area is small not too much broad then u can go with high relevant single keywords.

    Otherwise after complete analysis pick min of 2 keyword

    Primary Keyword
    Secondary Keyword

    or Pick which page of site want to rank or want visitors. Select accordingly.
