Why are these SEO tools treating the og:description tag like a meta description tag?

I'm trying to assess some basic SEO metrics of my site...and I'm using two browser add-ons (SENseo and SEOmoz) both of which are telling me that i HAVE properly set a meta description for my site...
But in submitting the URL to three different meta tag analyzers (SubmitExpress, SEOcentro, and ScrubTheWeb), they all tell me that NO meta description has been set. I can't figure this out.

I checked out the SOURCE and the only mention of a 'description' tag is this one:

<meta name="og:description" content="&quot;I can spot the parents who just want their child out of their hair from a mile away.&quot;" />
But from my basic understanding, the og:description tag is NOT a search-engine facing 'meta description', RIGHT? Isn't it just for social networks and such?
Why are the two browser add-ons identifying it as a meta description, if it's not actually one?
