EMD Update Means Google update their algorithm frequently to give best result for the users who use Google.
Google recently update was anchor text variation, I.e if a website receives back links with same anchor text then Google going to penalize those website.

Does anyone really believe that anymore? When I use google, all I get now are ehow (I hate ehow) and yahoo answers (bunch of nobodys giving advice) and youtube crap. Google's results are awful.

EMD are nothing but EXACT MATCH DOMAINS instead of putting your company name and keywords in the URL, just using the keywords alone in the URL. if Google users search for the website of any keywords, that search term will be as a domain name in the search result, this is called EMD, these sites don't give any information to the users, they primarily arrive in the search results because of the keywords in the url.

Last September Google announced a change in the way it was handling exact-match domains (EMDs). This led to large-scale devaluation, reducing the presence of EMDs in the MozCast data set by over 10%. Official word is that this change impacted 0.6% of queries (by volume).

just keep the content unique and very your backlinks and you have nothink to worry about.emds are just classed as normal domains by google and have just lost the edge they used to have.you can still rank it well in google as you would any domain, you now just have an edge in bing, yahoo.

What I can say about this is that exactly at October 28, two of my sites that were at position 2 and 4 or Google's SERPS were totally droped from Google's results. They have the exact keyword in the URL, and they were ranking for that exact keyword. Now I have to make changes for ranking my sites for another keyword starting from scratch. The sites were not sent to the sandbox, but from now on they will be ignored for any search of the keyword at their URL, isn't it?
