Blog Recent Comments Sidebar Causes HUGE Ranking Drop

Hello Warriors!

I tried searching for a similar thread and couldn't find anything fruitful. I do have a serious problem and I think that having this out there might help future warriors!

I mad a comment on a do-follow auto approved PR2 post. I didn't see any ranking results for quite a while and then suddenly over the weekend I went from first page #2-5 to the third page!! I went and did some research and the website that I commented on had a sidebar widget that displayed the most recent comments causing me to get TON's of backlinks all of a sudden.

I logged onto my Google WMT and sure enough I had 284 backlinks from every single page of this domain. Now I am off the recent comments sidebar will I regain my rankings as I won't have a link to my site on each page?

Is there anything else I can do to regain my rankings?

    I would contact the blog owner and see if you can get your comment removed but honestly one backlink wouldn't result in such a drop.

    You could be sling-shotting. But to be safe I would remove that comment if you can.

    Then PING your site and the Commented site page you commented on and see what happens.

    I think that it was the one comment that resulted in it being featured on 284 pages resulting in 284 backlinks. I contacted the webmaster and am trying to get it removed.
