My Niche Sites Rank Well but Little Money From Adsense

Hello,

I was doing a few experiments with niche sites in order to try a little bit of money each month. However, after this, I'm really considering learning how to build authority sites.

I did keyword research for some good keywords.

Niche Site A Keyword 3,600 exact searches + Approximate CPC Search = $3.20
Niche Site B Keyword 2,400 exact searches + Approximate CPC Search = $3.63

So I got both my niche sites to rank pretty well.

Niche Site A 1st Result on google
Niche Site B 4,5,6 Result on google (I bet with a little more backlinking I could get at least top threes because only youtube videos and a forum ranks higher than me)

Niche Site A, about 210 visits in a week, 30 per day, 60% bounce rate.
Niche Site B I get about 50 visits a day, 350 last week with a bounce rate sadly of almost 70% (though I recently switched themes)

Now onto adsense...
In the past 7 days...
Niche Site A 408 views, .55 cpc, $1.64 in earnings ctr below 1%
Niche Site B 781 views, .18 cpc, $1.00 in earnings ctr below 1%

I'm pretty puzzled with the results. I recently switched from blusense to the the CTR theme, I thought bluesense was the problem. However about 3 days have gone by and I'm still seeing dismal earnings.

I expected to have a few more visits, a higher ctr rate, and higher cpc since I did good keyword research, am using a high converting theme, and did research on the cpc on the keywords.

I know bounce rate is a problem, but I don't know what to do to fix it except switch themes and the CTR theme is highly recommended by niche site builders.

Can anyone help me identify my problems and help me increase my earnings?
Also, I'm considering on selling them since they are a major source of frustration.

Thanks

    Hi Ernies,

I believe that high bounce rates usually come from not so good content. I'm not saying you have a low quality content, I'm just saying that maybe you should have a look at that.

You could try to set up a nice looking theme, which should be simple. Maybe something changes.

About adsense ctr. Maybe you should experimet a little with different positions and types of ads.

May I ask, how long did it take you to rank number one and what kind of link building did you do?

Those are very small numbers for an Adsense site. If you want to make money with Adsense you have to have a ton of traffic.

Your CTR is low. I would work on better placement and try to get that up.

It took me about a month to a month and half to rank number 1 for niche site A, I used article marketing mainly. I don't think the quality of my articles is too bad, but I'll take a look at it. I'm using the layout for CTR theme that has been recommended by several people who have had success with niche sites, so I'm not sure my placement is a problem. Also the CTR is supposed to get high CTR rates, so I'm very confused why I have less than 1%

I'll try and take the advice and use it but I'm still very confused.

Honestly I think you have already answered your own question and defined what your problem is. You are so concerned with clicks and making money that you have failed at doing at what should of been your first goal, providing solid content your users want. Now before you assume I am incorrect, look at your bounce rate because this is what tells a lot about your website and quality of the content.

I would also like to state you don't have enough traffic to really measure success or failure, about 300 visits in a week? This number kind of sticks out because it problem means the content and title of your page that displays in the SERP doesn't inspire users to click it even there. To give you an example, if I am ranked #1 in the SERP my CTR is 70-77%, at #2 I tend to hit 45-55% and #3 right about 30%.

The CTR theme is one of the ugliest things I have ever seen, so combine that with poor content.. Well you see the results and they speak volumes.
