What happens to PR if lapsed site is renewed?

I purposely let one of my sites lapse - it had been around for about 10 years and had a PR of 2-3, depending on Google's algorythm changes or something.
It has come to light that the site provides information that I've linked to from some of my other sites. So now I'm wondering if I should go back and re-register that site.
It went defunct about 6 months ago, possibly more.
I'm now wondering, if I do re-register it (assuming I still can), would its PR re-appear or will I have to start over again? There are still links to it from around the internet.
Regardless, it needs a major redo which is why I gave up on it. I wasn't looking forward to starting it over from scratch.
