301 to new site passing on penalty?

Hi all,

Is it true that 301 redirects pass on penalties? I've set up a new site and want to redirect specific pages from old sites that may have been hit. Is this a good idea?

    The penalties do pass over but it takes like 2 months in most cases. The best bet is for you to probably start afresh! I recall you saying you have login details for your web2's which means you can just login and point those links to the new site. But of course the links you do not have control of are now lost!

    I would advise you to not do a 301 especially if you are planning to build a bigger site where alot of time and energy will be invested!
