Google impressions drop

Hi there,
I was wondering if any of you could explain me why I have been smashed from Google results. It all happened in about two days. My website is relatively new, but it had a great progression and I am putting new, completely unique and closely related to my niche content on a regular basis.
I went from 500 impressions a day (data from Google Webmaster Tools) to 5
.
Impressions were not related to 1 article, all my article bringing some traffic have had a crazy drop in impressions (nearly 40 articles).

What I did before it happened : The only thing that could be the cause of my drop in ranking is that I removed all category/tag pages from the sitemap a day or two before it dropped. It should be more SEO optimized with this modification but thats the main and only major change I made.
I thought : let it some time and it will fix itself (google will stop the dance), but it did not up to now. The worst is that the rest of my website is all good (SEO optimization, quality unique content, no errors, etc.)
Any suggestion would be really appreciated.
